Richmond is again Top London Borough for Adult Social Care!
Cllr Piers Allen, Chair of the Adult Social Services, Health and Housing Committee, says: “As a national Party, the Liberal Democrats are absolutely determined to bring forward a proper solution to the crisis in Social Care. Ed Davey set this out movingly at the Lib Dem Conference in Spring 2023 - including the plan for free personal care, covering nursing care, help with personal hygiene, immobility problems and medication. More recently, Ed and the Lib Dems have led the call for on an agreement to reform Social Care after the general election.
"This performance report on our local aduly social services is fantastic news - we're very pleased to celebrate another year of high achievement forr our vulnerable adults. A user survey confirms that those receiving local care are happy with their support and overall quality of life. This is crucial, as the largest proportion of residents' Council Tax goes on Adult Social Care. It is imperative that as a Liberal Democrat led council, we deliver outstanding support and enhance the quality of life for residents we care for. My tremendous thanks goes out to everyone in our Care sector, working tirelessly to ensure Richmond upon Thames continues to be a great place for people to live"
The Liberal Democrats take pride that Richmond Council continues to perform best in London for social care, quality of life and overall satisfaction. The Council has also been ranked top in London for the proportion of people receiving short-term services. Plus it remains the second highest in London for the proportion of service users supported by direct payment, enabling them to live independently in their own home.
Some indicators show areas where all Councils are challenged in maintaining high performance, as a direct result of the Pandemic. This includes the number of elderly admissions into Care Homes. This benchmarking exercise however, confirms that despite being impacted the same as other councils, Richmond Borough’s overall performance remains very high!
