Richmond Lib Dems Invest Record Amount in Improving Roads and Pavements
Richmond’s Lib Dem Council is investing more than ever before to keep its roads and pavements in good condition and reverse years of Tory neglect.
This year alone, £5.17 million has been targeted at repairing potholes and resurfacing parts of the road network.
Cllr Alexander Ehmann, Liberal Democrat Chair of the Council’s Transport and Air Quality Committee, said:
“Investing in our roads and pavements is a critical priority for us as a Liberal Democrat administration – it's an essential part of keeping our public highways and footways safe for all to use.
“Our sound financial management of the Council finances has seen us able prioritise an additional £1.4million for our maintenance budget this year – increasing our budget by nearly 40%.
“Our residents expect good quality public services. What better place to focus, than the pavements they walk on and the roads they drive on. That’s why Richmond Liberal Democrats have invested record sums at the same time as exploring how to get more for that money. That includes new technology and ways of working, such as our ground-breaking use of lower-cost, thermal repair equipment.”
